Celebrate the Best of the Northern Territory

The Northern Territory Rugby League community will come together on Monday, 7 September 2026 for one of the biggest nights on the NRL NT calendar the 2026 Frank Johnson & Gaynor Maggs Medal Awards.

Hosted at the Darwin Turf Club, the annual Awards Night celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of the players, coaches, match officials, volunteers and people who have helped shape Rugby League across the Northern Territory throughout the 2026 season.



Celebrating Our Game and Our People

At the centre of the evening will be the presentation of two of NRL NT's most prestigious individual honours the Frank Johnson Medal and Gaynor Maggs Medal recognising outstanding performances across our senior competitions.

But the night is about much more than what happens on the field.

Throughout the evening, NRL NT will recognise achievements from across the game, celebrating the people whose commitment, leadership and contribution help make Rugby League possible in communities across the Territory.

From our players and match officials through to coaches, volunteers, clubs and community contributors, the Awards Night provides an opportunity for the Rugby League community to come together and celebrate another season of the game in the NT.


A Night for the Rugby League Community

The Frank Johnson & Gaynor Maggs Medal Awards has become an important annual occasion for the broader NRL NT community, bringing together representatives from our clubs, Rugby League Referees Association, Life Members, partners, stakeholders and supporters of the game.

The evening provides an opportunity to recognise individual achievement while also celebrating the collective contribution of everyone involved in delivering and growing Rugby League across the Northern Territory.

Darwin City vs Southern Heat to Showcase NT Pathway Talent

Territory’s Future Stars RISE at 2026 Junior Championships

The 2026 NRL NT Territory Junior Championships delivered an outstanding showcase of emerging rugby league talent, with the Northern Territory’s best Under 16 players taking centre stage at TRL Stadium, Darwin. Across a full day of high-quality competition, teams representing Darwin City, Southern Heat, Katherine and Gove United competed with intensity, skill and pride, highlighting the continued growth and strength of rugby league pathways across the Territory. The boys competition opened with a dominant performance from Gove United, setting the tone early with a 30–4 victory over Darwin City. Southern Heat responded strongly in Game 3, defeating Darwin City 16–8 in a disciplined and physical contest. In the girls division, Southern Heat showcased their class with a 16–0 win over Darwin City in Game 2, underlining the continued rise in female participation and performance standards across the Northern Territory.
