Jason Ruhan and Paul Sletten Memorial Games

Charity Football Event

RAAF Tindal hosts the annual Jason Ruhan and Paul Sletten memorial matches by contesting a men's rugby league game and a women's touch football game between 17SQN and 75SQN.

The annual event has continued since 2008 (16 years) and will continue into the future to raise funds for cancer council who is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about cancer prevention and providing support to people affected by cancer. The event is held to honour the memory of 75SQN Defence members lost to cancer. The event is a big contributor to bringing Defence personnel to Tindal. Competing for their squadron holds great pride within Defence personnel.

As the years have gone by the rivalry has gotten stronger and the donations bigger with on the night having held Multiple raffles and BBQ’s to raise money for the cancer council who have since the start of the event in 2008 have set up a headquarters in Katherine.

This perpetual event sees the community come together for a spirited day whilst raising vital funds for Cancer Council NT. RAAF Tindal are a major sponsor of Cancer Council NT and this event contributes to their oncology nurse based at Katherine Hospital.
