Junior Sharks on the Right Pathways

Tony Crowe • December 8, 2022

Congratulations Brandon & Ethan

We are all excited and proud to see two local NT juniors taking the opportunities that exist within the NRL pathways system.

Both Brandon and Ethan from the Northern Sharks were selected to play in the State of Origin curtain raiser played in Perth earlier this year before representing the NRL NT Titans at the Combined Affiliated States & Territory Championships on the Gold Coast in September.

Brandon Norris

Brandon has been a standout for the Sharks in 2022 making some ground breaking appearances in the clubs A grade team and playing well above standard in the 18’s. In one notable Senior game, Brandon scored 3 tries and was named man of the match

Although Brandon showed some glimpses of brilliance during the CAS trials, it wasn’t enough to gain selection into the final squad. He did however do enough during his club performances to attract the eye of the Brisbane Broncos, who have offered him a 1 year scholarship with the 18’s Bronco Academy. Brandon has since relocated to Brisbane and will be training with the Broncos feeder club the Norths Devils, pushing for a spot in their U18’s Mal Meninga Cup Team.

Ethan Vangelderan

Has performed well throughout the year for the Sharks while playing out of his usual position in the forwards. He dominated in the U18’s NRLNT Competition and played a hand full of A grade games during the year.

He Showed great depth to his talent during the CAS Trials in Perth, showcasing his excellent ball playing ability at the line and strong carries.

After being selected as a starting member of the CAS Team during the National Championships, Ethan demonstrated enough competence to be identified by the Storms recruitment staff and was offered an opportunity to trial for the 2023 SG Ball team (yet to have selection confirmed)
