2024/25 RISE Rookie under 16/18 Boys Staff Applications

RISE Program provides aspirational Junior Rugby League players and coaches with an avenue to obtain specialised training and education through a holistic Rugby League development experience.

NRL Northern Territory is currently looking for expressions of interest for Managers and Coaches to join the Off Season Westpac RISE Rookie Program for 16's to 18's Boys in 2024/25.

 

As part of the NRL’s plan to build the 2025 U18’s Combined Affiliated States & Territory team (NT, SA, WA, VIC), each (CAS only) state and Territory will be running a RISE Rookie Offseason Program, consisting of 9 field and gym sessions and a trial game between November and March 2025.

 

Upon completion of the program, players will be assessed on their abilities, testing results, commitment and training performance, with up to 7 players being given the opportunity to attend 3 camps and a trial in Melbourne, as part of the selection process into the CAS team attending the Australian Secondary Schoolboys Championships in July 2025.

 

To support providing high level coaching, a professional environment and a positive player experience, we are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic Coaches and Managers to lead and support delivering the RISE Rookie Coaching model to the playing group, with an open mind on personal development.

 

Training dates will be as per below, with each session taking place at the CDU Gym and Field in Casuarina from 5:00pm to 6:30pm.

 

  • 20th November - Session 1 CDU                       
  • 27th November - Session 2 CDU                         
  • 4th December - Session 3 CDU                                           
  • 8th January - Session 4 Game TRLS
  • 15th January - Session 5 CDU                                 
  • 22nd January - Session 6 CDU Gym/Skills
  • 19th February - Session 7 CDU Gym/Skills                           
  • 26th February - Session 8 CDU Gym/Skills                               
  • 5th March - Session 9 CDU Gym/Skills

Supported by Australian Government , the RISE Program provides aspirational Junior Rugby League players and coaches with an avenue to obtain specialised training and education through a holistic Rugby League development experience.


Katherine and Alice Springs players also have the opportunity to join this program and will be provided with more details on their inclusion upon registering. Coaches may also have the opportunity to attend remote training sessions and work with the local playing group.

Darwin City vs Southern Heat to Showcase NT Pathway Talent

The 2026 NRL NT Territory Junior Championships delivered an outstanding showcase of emerging rugby league talent, with the Northern Territory’s best Under 16 players taking centre stage at TRL Stadium, Darwin. Across a full day of high-quality competition, teams representing Darwin City, Southern Heat, Katherine and Gove United competed with intensity, skill and pride, highlighting the continued growth and strength of rugby league pathways across the Territory. The boys competition opened with a dominant performance from Gove United, setting the tone early with a 30–4 victory over Darwin City. Southern Heat responded strongly in Game 3, defeating Darwin City 16–8 in a disciplined and physical contest. In the girls division, Southern Heat showcased their class with a 16–0 win over Darwin City in Game 2, underlining the continued rise in female participation and performance standards across the Northern Territory.

As a key component of the NRL NT Pathways system, the RISE Program provides aspiring young players with access to a high-quality, structured development environment focused on building strong foundations both on and off the field. Taking place on Friday 17 April from 7:30am to 8:30am at Darwin Airport Resort, this free session provides a unique opportunity for coaches, players, volunteers and community leaders to gain direct insights from one of the NRL’s high-performance environments.
