Letter from the Operations Manager
NRL NT Operations Manager • August 18, 2020
A timely reminder from the Operations Manager
With only three weeks of the regular season remaining, it is an appropriate time to remind our stakeholders just how fortunate we are to be able to play Rugby League in the Territory. It is easy to overlook the fact that there are places in Australia (and abroad) that would love to go outside, walk the dog, go to a café and be involved in sport. Every so often, we all need to take a step back, reflect, acknowledge and be grateful for how lucky we are to just be involved in a supportive team, club, association and/or community.
At times we are all guilty of getting “passionate” (and get too carried away) at the score, a referee oversight, a coaching mishap, a spectator’s comment or a volunteer’s miscommunication. In these instances, we need to remember why we do what we do every training night, every Friday night, every early Saturday morning, every committee meeting, our commitments go on….
We sacrifice so many hours, early nights, sleep ins, money on washing powder, petrol, footy boots, headgear, shoulder pads, mouth guards and uniforms... We all do this because we love the game, we love seeing our kids learn life skills and being a team player, we love seeing a smile on their faces, we love volunteering, we loving being part of something bigger than ourselves, we love seeing people improving, we love seeing teamwork and above all, we love seeing friends enjoy being active and playing rugby league!
Unfortunately, there are incidents that we don’t love. We do not condone any breaches of the NRL Code of Conduct on (or off) the field and will continue to roll up our sleeves and make the hard, but necessary, decisions.
With only three weeks of the regular season remaining we want to thank you for the wonderful things you do for our game. We also want to remind you to allow yourself the time to refocus and be grateful for the fact that we have “the greatest game of all” in our own backyard – especially in 2020.
We look forward to seeing you at the fields.
Yours in league,
